Advancing Education Access and International Solidarity

[Seoul Economic TV = Reporter Chang-Shin Jung] BestTech, an XR·AI-based creative convergence technology company, announced on the 24th that its CEO, Woo-Seung Seo, has officially been appointed Chairman of the public-interest foundation LovePlusOne. LovePlusOne is a nonprofit organization that has supported children and adolescents in educationally marginalized regions of the Philippines. Having recently transitioned from an incorporated association to a public-interest foundation, the organization is expanding the scope of its activities.

LovePlusOne’s mission began in 1999 with the dedication of Standing Director Jung-Pyo Hong. Even when results were not immediately visible, his consistent practice of embracing each child and each life became the organization’s defining identity. After sharing this story, the board of directors agreed that this was a mission “that must not end with individual dedication.” United by this conviction since 2023, their collective efforts ultimately led to the transition to a public-interest foundation.

The single guiding principle upheld by LovePlusOne is the phrase, “We love one more person.” The organization exists to speak of renewed possibility to children who had to give up their dreams due to the absence of schools, and to tell children who could not imagine a future because of their circumstances, “You are a precious being.”

In addition, LovePlusOne carries out care and settlement support as a core mission for international students who are already in Korea or plan to enter the country in the future. By walking alongside those facing unfamiliar cultures and language barriers so they do not feel alone, the organization seeks to foster a virtuous cycle in which they grow into people who help others.

At the “Night of Sponsorship” held on the 23rd, a ceremony to present appointment certificates to board members was also conducted. Professor Robert Dean of Namseoul University received his certificate as a Director for Education. Appointments were also made for Director Tae-Kyung Eom (Personnel Committee); Directors Seung-Hyun Yoo and Ki-Chul Han (Finance Committee); Director Geun-Ho Son (Policy Committee); Directors Ju-Won Ko and Jong-Ryeol Kim (Public Relations Committee); Standing Director Jung-Pyo Hong; and Woo-Seung Seo, CEO of BestTech, as Chairman.

A memorandum of understanding ceremony was also held on the same day. Jong-Yeol Kim, CEO of Mega Economic Newspaper, and Jae-Hyun Park, Chairman of the COME Mission, agreed to collaborate with LovePlusOne to expand its mission.

As a special project, the “Smart Classroom” initiative is currently underway. This program aims to improve learning environments and enhance the quality of education by establishing smart classrooms in local schools in the Philippines. As its first outcome, the COME Mission pledged KRW 50 million in support for the establishment of Muntinlupa Science High School in the Philippines. In addition, Sang-Hyun Ahn, CEO of UPL Company, donated eco-friendly paper detergent products worth KRW 5.8 million to support LovePlusOne’s annual winter volunteer activities.

Chairman Seo stated, “We will expand places where love gives rise to more love into a sustainable structure,” adding, “Through practical efforts that connect the elimination of educational marginalization with international solidarity, we will link opportunities to more children and young people.”

Meanwhile, BestTech has demonstrated its technological competitiveness and execution capabilities through achievements such as: the K INNO SHOW 2025 Prime Minister’s Commendation for Management Innovation; the UNESCO ICHEI IIOE Pioneer Award 2025 (Smart Classroom Operations Innovation); securing investment at a KRW 40 billion valuation (from Zero to One Partners and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency); and selection for development funding support from the Gangwon Defense Venture Center. Most recently, BestTech earned the Hi-Seoul Company certification, officially recognizing its innovation and growth potential as endorsed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. /csjung@sedaily.com
